ROCKPORT POETRY FESTIVAL 2021
On Sunday April 18, poets from all over the world will come together online to celebrate the 3rd Annual Rockport Poetry Festival. The theme for 2021 is “GLOBAL VOICES: Around the World in 80 Poets”.
Poets from all over the planet will read their work live, including: Cape Ann, the North Shore, China, Nepal, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Nigeria, Ukraine, Poland, Denmark, Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Trinidad, and across the time zones of the United States.
The first Live Reading Session begins at 9am (EDT) with poets in Australia! From there, the live stream readings will continue through the day as the festival circumnavigates the globe.
At 10:30am (EDT) there is a FREE Haiku Workshop presented by prominent haiku poet Brad Bennett, who has lead workshops for more than 20 years as well as judged several contests for the Haiku Society of America. He is included in the judging panel for the Haiku and Haiga Contests. Registration is not required to attend the workshop, but to help gauge numbers you may sign-up by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line: HAIKU WORKSHOP.
Previous festivals have featured live performances of top-rated poets, poet laureates, poet re-enactors, and films. However, this year because of Covid-19 the festival will be exclusively online, presented through Zoom and Facebook Live!
This event is FREE. The Rockport Poetry Festival is staffed entirely by volunteers. Donations of any size are happily accepted to assist RPF in its goal to remain free and accessible to the public!
